LaRoy N. Shaull, a longtime Payne County resident, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, OK at the age of 75 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2010 in the First Christian Church (300 East Moses), Cushing, OK. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, OK.
Visitation will be held from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 and from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home. The family will be greeting friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The son of the late Homer F. Shaull and Gladys (Bradley) Shaull, LaRoy was born on September 25, 1935 near Yale, OK. He was reared and educated in Payne County, attending school in Quay and Cushing. He graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1953.
LaRoy was united in marriage to Geraldine Gerrie Baxter on July 22, 1955 in the Council Valley Advent Christian Church, Yale, OK and to this union three children, Jim, Craig and Susan, were born.
LaRoy and Gerrie lived briefly in Bartlesville, OK but made their first home in Tulsa. They also lived in Virginia before returning to Oklahoma. LaRoy was a Licensed Journeyman Electrician and had been a 50 year veteran of the IBEW # 584 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). He was a lifelong member of the Council Valley Advent Christian Church, Yale, OK and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and gardening. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking them fishing in the farm pond at his home.
Survivors include his wife Gerrie of the home; two sons, Jim Shaull and his wife Cory of Williamston, South Carolina and Craig Shaull and his wife Suzann of Bristow, OK; two brothers, Donald Shaull and his wife Mildred of Pryor, OK and Harry Shaull and his wife Betty of Tulsa, OK; one sister, LuElla Dethloff of Cushing, OK; six grandchildren, Jennifer Winner and her husband Aaron, Jamie Shaull, Micah Shaull and his wife Amanda, Sarah Fisher and her husband Justin, Katie Shaull and Blake Shaull; one great-granddaughter, Layla Grace Shaull; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, LaRoy was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Shaull.
The Shaull family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Council Valley Advent Christian Church Building Fund, Yale, OK.
