Larry Laverne Hansen

December 9, 1938 — December 18, 2018

Larry LaVerne Hansen, resident of Perry, OK, formerly of Sumner, OK, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the age of 80. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, December 21, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Perry with Pastor Josh Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Sumner Cemetery in Sumner, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.

Larry was born December 9, 1938, to Audra and Frank Hansen. He was the third of the couple’s four children, including Marie, Bill, and Emma Faye. Larry grew up and attended school in Sumner, where he graduated high school in 1956. Shortly after, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice, on October 30,1959. The couple moved to Perry where they welcomed their three children Kevin, Kyle and Leasa. Larry shared his love of baseball by coaching little league teams for his children. He had a knack for creating crafts from wood and metal. He was also very talented in fixing any and all things. Larry was employed at Ditch Witch for 42 years, retiring in 2001.

Larry was a hardworking man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He knew no stranger and would always be the first to lend a helping hand. Larry enjoyed fishing,
working on his tractors and his land, and cracking jokes. He was always seen smiling, teasing, and joking with family. Larry enjoyed being with his family and loved them very much. They were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed being retired. You could often find him at one of his grandchildren’s activities. Above all, he was a wonderful man with a huge heart, making him a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Janice, of 59 years; children: Kevin and Jill Hansen of Perry, Kyle and Kim Hansen of Edmond, and Joey and Leasa O’Donnell of Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Jayde and Erik Montgomery of Stillwater, Morgan and Zac Hansen of Edmond, and Kaegen, Kale, and Kinley O’Donnell of Wichita, KS; one sister: Marie Will of Morrison; brother and sisters-in-law: Bob and Betty Mittasch of Morrison, and Peggy Mittasch of Pawnee; one brother-in-law: Dale Clodfelter of Lawton; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

Larry is proceeded in death by his parents, Audra and Frank Hansen; brother: Bill Hansen;
sister: Emma Faye Clodfelter; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth Mittasch and Bill Will.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Larry’s honor to the Be Kind Scholarship in c/o of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 189, Perry OK, 73077.
