Lawrence Hammer

Dr. Lawrence Larry Hammer, 69, of Stillwater, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at his home. Larry was born on November 16, 1941 to Harold and Dorothy Hammer in Dallas, Texas. Larry served in the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an accounting professor at OSU for close to 30 years, beginning in 1977. He authored the book Cost Accounting which has several editions and is used as a textbook nationwide. He served as the President of the Nottingham Homeowners Association and as Treasurer for the James Halligan State Senate campaign. Larry never lost his love of flying and spent his spare time building model and remote control airplanes of all types. He is survived by the love of his life, Jane (Nickelson) Hammer of the home, brother Darrell and his wife Lynn of Garland, Texas; and niece Deborah Hammer, as well as numerous friends. Private Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to the Nature Conservancy or Judith Karmen Hospice in the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
