A Graveside Service for Lela Heddlesten, 96, Stillwater area resident will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Garden in Stillwater, Oklahoma officiated by nephew, Scott Heddleston and under the direction of the Dighton Marler Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 9AM to 5PM at the Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater.
Lela was born on August 16, 1925, to Adolph Henry Hanson and Sarah Catherine (Addis) Hanson in Oakwood, Oklahoma and passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at her home outside of Stillwater.
In her early years she grew up in the Oakwood area. Her parents and siblings moved to Colorado by covered wagon to make their home. At 14 she met the love of her life, Thomas Heddlesten and they were united in marriage in 1943. Later in life Lela and her husband moved to the Stillwater area to make their home where she remained until her passing. During her life she worked various jobs. She enjoyed her time as a pressor for area dry cleaner shops. She also worked at the Payne County Court Clerk’s office.
Lela loved everyone she crossed paths with. She was a mother to anyone and never judged. Willing to lend a helping hand where she could. Some of her hobbies included bowling, playing pool, gardening, and planting flowers.
Survivors include her children, Vern and wife Carol Heddlesten of Stillwater OK, Darlene and husband Jerry Shell of Perkins, OK; five grandchildren, Tommy Heddlesten, Debbie Turner, Kimberly Cundiff, Jennifer Stack, and Lee Heddlesten; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years Thomas Heddlesten; her parents; two brothers, Neal Hanson and Lowell Hanson; two sisters, Ruth Collins, and Mary Anderson.
Family invites everyone to join them at the Stillwater Moose Lodge after the service for a time of food and followship.
