Leroy Kimbrell, 80, of Stillwater, Ok passed away on Wednesday, November 04, 2015 at Westhaven Nursing Home. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 9:00am at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at 3:00pm at Mt. View Cemetery in Mt. View, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6 from 8 am to 8 pm.
Leroy was born March 3, 1935 to Guy and Della (Fletcher) Kimbrell at Granite, Oklahoma. He attended Mt. View School where he graduated in 1953. He went to Oklahoma A&M and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1958. He returned to Mt. View and ran a meat processing plant with his brother, Leon.
Leroy married Hulene Burton on November 29, 1963 with a readymade family of four children, Arlene, Buddy, Anita, and Jimmy. The family moved to Carnegie where he operated a meat processing plant. In 1967 they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he took a position with Oklahoma State University where he worked at the meat lab until he retired in 1995.
Leroy and Hulene opened there home to become foster parents to 38 foster children over the years and adopted Hope Kimbrell.
He is preceded in dead by his wife, Hulene; a son, Buddy Burton; his parents, Guy and Della Kimbrell; a brother, Leon Kimbrell.
He is survived by four children, Arlene Rakey of Perkins/Stillwater, Anita Long of Elgin, Oklahoma, Jimmy Burton and wife, Latecia of Morrison, and Hope Kimbrell of Stillwater; twelve grandchildren, Stephenie Noble and husband, Lance of Perkins, Brian Burton and wife, Susanne, Brandy Burton of Morrison, Oklahoma, Shea Lynn Kennedy of Virginia, Trevis Rakey and wife, Shila of Perkins, Montana Burton and wife, Amber of Perkins, Raynee Cowin of Elgin, Oklahoma, Mikea Burton of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Chance Burton and wife, Jennifer of Morrison, Oklahoma, Lane Long of Pawnee, Oklahoma, TaNeele Ross of Stillwater, Jonna West of Stillwater; twenty one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Kimbrell and wife, Zita of London Mills, Illinois, Bill Kimbrell and wife, Wanda of Oakes, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers a memorial can be made in his name to the Alzheimers and Dementia Research or Westhaven Nursing Home or Good Shepherd Hospice in the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 5106 North Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075.
