Linda Jane Stoddard, 69, died on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Linda was born on October 24, 1947 in San Francisco, California to George and Anna May Ferrell. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Barbara Jean Ferrell, brother William Harlan Ferrell, brother Michael Reid Ferrell.
Her father retired from the United States Navy with the rank of Commander with his last duty post in Guantanamo bay, Cuba, pre Castro. The family then moved to California.
Linda attended school there. When her father died the family moved to Oklahoma to be near family. Linda attended Oklahoma State University and received a BS degree in Health and Physical Education. She then went on to get her Masters degree in Special Education and a Reading Specialist degree. She taught Special Education at Yale Public Schools for 2 years then went to Glencoe Public School where she taught Special Education for over 30 years. She was extremely proud of her students who have gone on to become productive and responsible citizens.
She married Dwight Lee Stoddard on December 20, 1969. They were married for 47 years. They had no children. Linda is survived by her husband and his nieces and grandnephews of Lawton, Ok, and a cousin of Brunswick, OH.
Linda served as a volunteer for the Stillwater Humane Society, Judith Karman Hospice, Karman Korner, Companion Animal Assistance Program (CAAP), and Mobile Meals.
The Stoddards cared for and loved many abandoned dogs and cats during their 47 years together. There will be no services after cremation. Linda did not attend any formal church, but was a devout Christian who attended the Church of Mother Nature. If you want to honor her, go plant a tree, watch and feed the birds, watch a sunset, and take care of the planet and her creatures.
