Lois Fay Russell 74, of Stillwater, passed from this life Monday
January 28, 2013. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Glencoe South (I.O.O.F.) Cemetery on Yost Rd. In addition , visitation will be held at the funeral home (5106 N. Washington) from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday with the family to greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Lois was born on July 27, 1938 to Everett and Hattie Russell. Lois grew up in Glencoe and graduated from Glencoe High School. Shortly before graduating she married Robert James Cowan. She then spent 10 years being a full time mother. Lois then went to work in production for the Swan Company in Stillwater, after which she went back to being Mom. Lois had also worked in Health Care as a personal nurse. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening, and quilting. She was also a great cook. She loved animals and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as generous, forgiving, outspoken, and sometimes ornery.
Lois is survived by her children Mary Cowan Smith and husband Jeff of Mena, AR; Louis Cowan and wife Tammy of Perkins; Mike Russell and Christine of Stillwater; and Martha Cowan of Stillwater; five brothers and sisters Thomas Russell, Lloyd Russell, Louis Russell, Maxine Trembath, and Virginia Marshall, seven grandchildren, Noel Russell, Amber Cowan, April Cowan, John Mark Russell, Timothy Cowan, Nicholas Cowan, and Connar Cowan, four great grandchildren, Grace, Dallas, Blake, and Aleah, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Garland Russell, Luella Vaverka, Junior Russell, Noel Russell, Joe Russell, Elbert Russell, Laverl Russell, and J.E. Russell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Stillwater in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home (5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075).
