Lois Pauline Hixson, 88, of Yale, Oklahoma died on February 1, 2013. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Church of God in Yale. Interment will follow in Lawson Cemetery, north of Yale. Public visitation will take place at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale located at 500 E. Detroit on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Lois was born July 16, 1924 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Minnie Bryl Little and Martin Fredrick Payne. She was the fifth of seven children raised in Vici, Oklahoma. She married Homer William Hixson on December 25, 1944 in Woodward, Oklahoma. After living in Harmon they later moved to Yale in 1947.
She started working for the Yale U.S. Post office in 1947 and retired in 1980 after 33 years of service. She and Homer operated a dairy, feedlot, gravel hauling business, had a cattle trucking business, cattle ranch and farmed. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading and just keeping busy working. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter the task. She has enjoyed the last 7 years at the Renaissance of Stillwater and she made several wonderful friends there.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six sisters and one son-in-law, Mike Stephens.
She is survived by son, Charles Hixson and wife Charlotte of Jennings, daughter, Eileen Ford and husband Tim of Enid, daughter, Luanna Spaid and husband Bill of Stillwater, son Tom Hixson and wife Tiffany of Yale, 12 grandchildren, Brian Hixson and wife Beth of Blackburn, Clifford Hixson and wife Cindy of Ralston, Yetta Hixson of Jennings, Joyce Billingsley and husband Todd of Fate, TX, Kevin Ford and wife Irena of Houston, TX, Kirsten Sosbee and husband Derek of Yale, Rocky Stephens of Yale, Jennifer Kimmel of Cushing, Rachel Myers and husband Daniel of Cushing, Sarah Vier and husband Ryan of Cushing, Madison Hixsonand Tommy Hixson of Yale. Lois is also survived by several great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Brian Hixson, Clifford Hixson, Kevin Ford, Rocky Stephens, Bradley Hixson, Braxton Hixson, and Clint Hixson
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be given in Lois Hixsons name to the Church of God Building Fund, 625 W. Broadway, Yale, OK 74085.
