Lones Frank Cook

February 13, 1952 — May 12, 2021

Lones Frank Cook, 69, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in Stillwater. Lones battled cancer for over two years, but passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Lones was born on February 13, 1952 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Claxton Roscoe Cook and Mable Ellen Shields. He was raised by his father to work hard and by his mother to love his family.

He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1970 and attended Oklahoma State University, where he studied agricultural science and accounting, and was a varsity wrestler. Lones was a man of many trades, interests, and passions. He traveled the country as a truck driver and oilfield worker, and once almost drowned while sailing a yacht in the Caribbean. Closer to home in Oklahoma, he was a fireman, sold insurance, worked as a plumber, drove a cement truck, rode motorcycles, flew airplanes, and killed numerous enormous rattlesnakes. His fondest pursuit was working as a cattleman at the Cook Cattle Company northwest of Stillwater. Lones loved history and theology. In every endeavor, he was a philosopher and contrarian, always seeking the truth and poking holes in conventional thinking.

Lones's greatest pride was his family. He was married thrice; most happily and devotedly to Brenda Ruth Henson-Cook. Their love and commitment to one another and to God is a source of inspiration to their family and to all those who know them. Lones is survived by Brenda; two sons and a stepson: Randall Cook and his wife Jennifer, Kyle Cook and his fiancée Lisa Marie Babayan, and Daniel Henson and his wife Joni; one daughter and a stepdaughter, Kara Cook and her husband Garrett Schultz, and Jennifer Henson Callaway and her husband Scott Callaway. Lones and Brenda share 12 grandchildren: Cobi Callaway, Jolei Henson Murray, Mason Callaway, Joseph Cook, Logan Callaway, Jett Henson, Robert Cook, Thomas Cook, Kaylon Callaway, Preslee Callaway, Jaron Henson, and Alexander Schultz. Lones also is survived by a sister, Marcia Cook Greer and her family, and a brother, Carl Cook and his family.
