Lonnie Leo Tipton, Sr. age 80, died on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 at home with his wife and children by his side. Lonnie was a hardworking man that put family first. He was a loving family man of 60 years with his bride Norma Lynette McGuire of Coyle, OK. Lonnie never knew a stranger and always had a smile on his face and a joke and story to tell. Lonnie raised 5 children in Stillwater while working at the City of Stillwater for 30 years which he retired from in 1995. When Lonnie retired he raised cattle and enjoyed his many grandchildren. He also enjoyed country music, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake.
Lonnie was survived by his wife, Norma of the home; children, Teresa Farrow and husband, Doug of Stillwater, OK, Lonnie Leo Tipton Jr. and wife, Suzanne of Denton, TX, Rochelle Sneed and husband, Thomas of Perkins, OK, Sheila Smith and husband, Kelly of Broken Arrow, OK, and Greg Tipton and wife, Erin of Coyle, OK; brother, Howard Tipton and wife, Norma Jean of Antiock, California; sister, Wilma Peterson of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 3 nephews; and 5 nieces.
Services will be held at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel at 5106 N. Washington St. Stillwater, OK, on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00pm with graveside services to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 12 noon to 8:00pm with family greeting friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
