Mrs. Lorene (Jenkins) Vick of Perry OK, a highly regarded and widely-known community member and friend to many, quietly transitioned to be with her King and Father God on Thursday, September 19, 2019. She was 85 years old.
A native of Ft. Scott KS, Lorene moved to Perry OK from Oklahoma City in 1968 with her husband Maxie and 12 children. In Perry, Lorene enjoyed a long career as one of Oklahoma’s first licensed dietitian cooks and worked for many years in the Perry Nursing Home before concluding her career working with Head Start. Known by three generations of Perry OK residents as “Mrs. Lorene,” she was a lover of simple things in life and never made anything more complicated than needed. Lorene was a hard working, honest and caring person who loved her life and family.
She is survived by her daughters Connie Manuel, Nettie Vick, Debra Clark and Therese Collins; sons Maxie, Corkey, Lonnie and Rickey Vick; brother, Wayman Jenkins; sister, JoAnn Webster; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Lorene Jenkins Vick will be Saturday, September 21, at 1pm at New Prospect Baptist Church in Perry OK
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that all donations be sent to the Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association for future research, and treatment of Alzheimer’s patients.
