Loretta June Longan, 85, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma surrounded by family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 2:00 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coyle, Oklahoma.
Loretta was born on October 16, 1935 in Marland, Oklahoma to William T. (Bill) and Wanita (Hunsaker) Scott. She grew up in the Sumner area and graduated from Sumner High School in 1953. She married her soul mate, J.D. Longan, on June 23, 1952 in Sumner, Oklahoma.
Loretta traveled extensively across the United States and in other countries, following J.D. during his stint in the Army to New Jersey, and during his career in overseas oilfields. They made their home in a variety of places, from Coyle and Sumner, Oklahoma to Selima, Malta and Campo de Mata, Venezuela.
Loretta and J.D. were married for 64 years and were known to hold hands wherever they went. They attended most of their children’s and grandchildren’s games over the years, regardless of the drive. Loretta was proud to wear orange and root for her beloved Oklahoma State Cowboys. Basketball or football, you’d find her cheering them on.
Loretta worked at Citizens State Bank in Morrison for more than 25 years, greeting customers and opening new accounts, although her most enjoyed responsibility seemed to be her interaction with the children who visited the bank. She was known as “the sucker lady” to each and every one. Although she gave them suckers, she is really remembered for the undivided and individual attention she gave each little personality.
She loved life, her friends, her family and her Lord and Savior. Loretta was a lifelong member of Sumner Baptist Church. Her strong faith and the love of her Lord God guided her every action. She saw the best in everyone and prayed for those who were unable to do so themselves. She always had a kind word or a smile for you. Loretta shared her home, her life and her worldly goods with anyone who appeared to be in need. She and J.D. also hosted Colet Poncia, a high school exchange student from Belgium.
She was known as “Aunt June” to all of her nieces and nephews and she was always surrounded by children if they were present. Nothing made her happier than spending time spoiling her children and her great grandchildren.
Loretta loved life. She worked hard and she played hard. She drove tractors, cooked huge meals, fished at the creek, played cards, teased everyone and grinned from ear to ear when she was being her orneriest. We will miss her dearly.
Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Longan, an infant daughter, Ginger Lynn, and her parents.

Scott Longan and wife Jane, of Tulsa, Paula Gottschalk and husband Doug of Perry, John Longan and wife Shantile of Yukon, her grandchildren, Holly Longan and wife Alisia of Tulsa, Katie Franco and husband Michael of Jenks, Mallory Jones and husband Samuel of Glenpool, Kade Gottschalk of Perry, Parker Gottschalk of Perry, Chris Longan and wife Katrina of Shawnee, Tiffany Garten of Tulsa, Louis, Victoria, Sarena, Jaiden and Mario Longan of Yukon; her great grandchildren, Jackson, Wyatt, Asher, Ian and Scarlett Franco of Jenks, Tatum Jones of Glenpool, Colton Cobb of Tulsa and Keira Longan of Shawnee.
