Lum Marvin Buffington Lum Marvin Buffington, 91, of Tomball, Texas passed away, May 2, 2011. Lum was born July 15, 1919 in Wiley, Colorado, the son of John Thomas and Maggie Alice (Dallas) Buffington. He was raised in rural Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. After serving in the United States Army during WWII in North Africa, Sicily, and the invasion of Italy, he returned to Perry, Ok with his new bride, Mary Louise Smith, whom he married on October 18, 1945 in Atlanta GA. Lum and Louise raised the family in Tulsa, OK. He was a long time employee of Gaso-Pump, from which he retired in 1982. Although he worked in the oil and gas industry, his true passion and talent was farming and gardening, which he did for as long as he was able. Lum was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie, and his brothers Philip, Hamilton, Henry, Thomas, Rolley, Arlan, Harlen, Walter, John James Sr. and Joe Buffington, and sisters, Hattie Luney, Cindy Frazier and Pauline Buffington, his dear wife, Mary Louise, his second wife Marguerite, and his dear friend Elizabeth Keith. Lum is survived by sister Alice Frazier of Perry, daughter Barbara S. Mitchell of Stillwater, OK, granddaughter, Jenifer E. Harris and husband Don C. Harris, great granddaughter Ellie R. Harris of Tulsa, OK, daughter Jane E. Mitchell and great granddaughter Autumn E. Mitchell of Mannford, OK and grandson Wane R. Mitchell of Stillwater, OK. Lum is also survived by daughter Nancy and son-in-law Bruce McClure, who became his advocate, protector, best pal and friend. To repeat Bruce"s last words to Lum, "We will miss you dear friend." Graveside Services will be held, 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, OK. Arrangements entrusted to the Perry Funeral Home, Perry, Oklahoma.
