Margaret "Peg" Edna Romshe passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 The age of 99 years, 9 months, and 15 days. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held Monday, January 17 at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater with B. Gordon Edwards, Pastor, officiating.
Peg was born on March 28, 1911 in Piqua, Ohio to Fletcher and Anna (Fritsh) Griesheimer. She was reared and educated in Piqua. After graduating from high school she attended Ohio State University where she obtained her registered nurse degree in 1932. Peg then married the love of her life Franklin A Romshe on June 9th, 1935 in Piqua. The couple moved to Oklahoma in 1936 when Franklin got a teaching job at Oklahoma A & M.
She enjoyed bird watching, riding her mower, and volunteering at Stillwater Medical Center helping in the nursery. She also helped her husband in the running of greenhouses which offered bedding plants, tomatoes, and leaf lettuce. She also enjoyed the time she spent with the 2nd Mile sewing group at the Presbyterian Church. Her special delight was going fishing at Lake Carl Blackwell with her dog.
She is survived by her son Richard and wife LaVonne of Stillwater, daughter Alice Sandkuhl and husband Don of Broken Arrow, granddaughter Jennifer Sexton and husband Dan, and great grandsons Brendan and Danny, and sister-in-law, Ruby Greisheimer of Florida as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, husband Franklin, brothers Don and Richard, and grandson Brian Gray. Donations may be made to the Margaret E. and Franklin Romshe Scholarship fund at OSU Foundation, the SMC Auxillary, or the Presbyterian Church 2nd Mile Church.
