Margaret R. Knox, 70, of Perkins passed from this life on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and a service celebrating her life will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the River of Life Church in Stillwater with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9am to 8pm.
Margaret was born on Oct 17, 1945 in Stillwater to Charles and Edna (Lawrence) Ledbetter. She grew up and attended school in Stillwater. In 1961 Margaret met and married Robert Knox and to this union to children, Cotton and Tammy, were born. Margaret spent the next 26 years working for Oklahoma State University. She began her career as the janitor in the physical plant and retired as a general foreman over her department in facility maintenance. She retired from the university in the late 1990s and relocated to Georgia to be near her sister. She returned to the Perkins/Stillwater area in 2006 where she continued to reside until her passing.
dMargaret was fiercely independent and a bit stubborn. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, crocheting, and cooking and consuming bacon sandwiches. Those who knew Margaret know that her faith and family were both important priorities in her life. She was a long time member of the River of Life Church and she enjoyed listening to older southern gospel music. Margaret was very close to her sisters and enjoyed a chance to travel with them. She made many wonderful memories over the course of her life and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a son Cotton Knox; three brothers: Forrest, Charles, and Richard Ledbetter; a sister Shirley Shank.
She is survived by her daughter Tammy Fultz and husband Joe of Perkins; three siblings: Dorothy Geane Morris of Stillwater, Wilma Lee Mayfield and husband James of Stillwater, and Alma Bea Barbaree of South Carolina. Three grandchildren: Billy Fultz, Jolynn Kaiser, and Michael Knox. Two great grandchildren: Gabriel Kaiser and Jonah Fultz.
