Marian Lowry

Marian H. Lowry died on April 14,2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on October 17, 1911 to Robert and Pearl Hansen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Lowry graduated from Classen High School and attended Oklahoma A&M College (OSU). During this time she was very active in Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity as well as other organizations and graduated in 1933 with a degree in Home Economics. In 1932 she married Robert A. Lowry in Oklahoma City. The Lowrys later lived in Guthrie, Goodwell, and Stillwater, Oklahoma where Dr. Lowry taught. While in Stillwater, she served as President of Zeta Tau Alpha Alumni Group and held the offices of Province President and National Second Vice President. Mrs. Lowry was also a member of the Stillwater Medical Auxiliary, volunteering over 3,000 hours. She later served as President of the group. Her husband Robert preceded her in death on July 7, 2001. She is survived by her daughter Christine Grover of Tulsa and 5 grandchildren: Steven Grover of Saugus, California, Laura Reynolds of Chico California, Lisa Applegate of Coto De Caza, California, Mark Grover of Portland, Oregon, and Scott Grover of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had 12 great grandchildren: Kirstin, Nicholas, Fiona, and Jannelle Grover of Saugus, California, Emily and Melissa Reynolds of Chico, California, Sarah and Kalie Applegate of Coto De Caza, California, and AJ, Adam, Luke, and Emma Grover of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Private services will be held Saturday, April 29th, 2006 in Stillwater. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at the Lowry Activity Center in the Stillwater Community Center from 2-4 pm that same day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Saint Francis Hospital Hospice of Tulsa or the American Heart Association. The family has entrusted Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with the arrangements.
