Marilyn Bourne, a Stillwater resident since 1975, died December 21, 2019, at Via Christi Retirement Center in Ponca City. Marilyn was born in Aurora, Nebraska, on February 6, 1925. She earned her degree in English at the University of Nebraska where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. At Nebraska, she met DeWayne (Dee) Bourne and they married in 1947. Marilyn was recognized in 2019 as a seventy-five-year member of Chapter BU in Stillwater. She was an avid golfer, a bridge player, and an excellent seamstress. In 2010, she was the recipient of the Honorary Life Membership of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., presented to her at her home church in Stillwater. Even though a Nebraska graduate she loved the OSU Cowboys, enthusiastically attending football and basketball games with Dee.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Grant and husband, Marshall K., of Frisco, Texas and Ponca City, and Christie Murray and husband, Tommy, of Ponca City. Marilyn was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren: Marshall D. and wife Ashley of Lewisville, Texas, T.J. Murray and wife Jennifer, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Stacy Murray Coppock and husband Bryan, of Oklahoma City, and Clayton Murray of Oklahoma City. Marilyn also welcomed four great-grandchildren into her family: Quint and Ella Murray and Tegan and Perry Coppock. Also Surviving are two nephews, Dr. Eugene Bourne and Sam Swanson, and two nieces, Kay Eggers and Katherine Valentino.
The family would like to thank Dr. Woody Jenkins and Primrose Retirement Community for caring for Marilyn over the past few years. A memorial service for Marilyn will be held on Friday, December 27 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 524 South Duncan, Stillwater, OK 74074. Memorials in Marilyn’s honor may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, her church for 40 years.
