Marilyn Rose Sparkman, 79, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at her home in Perkins. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, at 1:30 at Liberty Church in Perkins with Pastor Rick Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marilyn was born on October 24, 1939 to Ralph and Oma Lea (Harmon) Sprague in Cushing, Oklahoma. She grew up in Cushing and went to Cushing High School. She married Jerry Sparkman on July 7, 1956.
Marilyn was a beautiful pianist; she played in church and with the family. Once she even played the piano on “KUSH” radio when she was 16. She married her high school sweetheart Jerry and was married for 62 years. Marilyn raised their five kids while jerry served our country; they always found time for baseball or other games. Together they pastured at two churches for over 30 years, one in Vinco and one in Perkins. Marilyn also taught Sunday school for many years. Marilyn lived a full life of love, music, family and friends.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; son, Chuck Sparkman; and great grandson, Corey.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Sparkman of the home; her children, Cherri Burcham and husband Bruce of Tulsa, Ok; Tammy Cowan and husband Louis of Perkins, Ok; Tracy Hahn and husband Jeff of Owasso, Ok and Rick Sparkman and wife Angie of Tulsa, Ok. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Sprague of Cushing, Ok; 20 grandchildren; as well as 34 great grandchildren.
