Graveside Funeral Services for Mark Wilson, age 56, of Talihina formerly of Stillwater have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. The services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Sentinel Cemetery in Sentinel, Oklahoma with Pat Peters from the Clinton Church of Christ officiating. Visitation for Mark will be held Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2010 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Mark was born on July 5, 1953 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Dwayne and Mary Wilson. He grew up in Stillwater and graduated from C. E. Donart High School in Stillwater in 1971. Mark worked as a glass cutter at Chucks Paint and Paper. He joined the United States Army in May of 1972, and served his country in Istanbul, Turkey. Awards received while serving his country include the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge M-14, Expert Hand Grenade, and Sharp Shooter M-14. He was honorably discharged in June of 1974. He married Nancy Neiman in 1976 and they later divorced. He attended Oklahoma State University for a time and later became a self employed Painting Contractor. Mark passed away Sunday at the Veterans Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mark was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by a brother, Scott Wilson and his wife Faith of Stillwater; niece Allie of Tulsa; sister, Cheryl Hallman and her husband Kenny of Stillwater; nephew Jacob and his wife Amber, nephew Kelin of Stillwater; two grandnieces and one grandnephew. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Talihina Veterans Home in Talihina, Oklahoma or to Judith Carmen Hospice in Stillwater.
