Martha Bodmer

Martha Pauline Bodmer, 72, of Stillwater died peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2015 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
Martha was born on March 15, 1943 in Manila, Arkansas. She was the second of nine children born to John and Olgie (Sanders) Elkins. Martha and her family moved to Jasper, Alabama and then to Lemon Grove, California where Martha attended school and graduated from Helix High School in 1961. She later received her Associates of Arts and Sciences degree from Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas.
In 1965 Martha married Gary Nisleit and moved to Fairfield, California and then to England for three years while her husband served in the US Air Force. Upon returning to the US, the couple moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The couple had two children together. They divorced in 1977.
Martha worked as an executive secretary for Wisconsin Power & Light company and later moved to Dallas, Texas where she continued her career at LTV Aerospace and Defense and then GTE. While working at GTE she met her current husband, Davis Bodmer. The couple married in 1997 and upon retirement, they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1999.
Martha loved spending time with her family. Her hobbies included genealogy, scrapbooking, reading, embroidery, and working crossword puzzles.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents.
Martha is survived by her husband Davis Bodmer of Stillwater, daughter, Julie (Tom) Mertz of Stillwater; son, Erik Nisleit of Sheboygan, WI, two step-daughters, Beth Bodmer of Portland, OR, Emily (Morgan) Ritchie of Seattle, WA; two brothers, David (Pam) Elkins of Phelan, CA, Johnnie (Isa) Elkins of Altus, OK; six sisters, Marie (Steve) Bird of Barstow, CA, Judy Dickey of Omaha, NE, Patricia (Paul) Strarbuck of Chino Valley, AZ, Cynthia Ferretta of Tucson, AZ, Charlene (Tommy) Partain of Colton, CA and Sheri (Carey) Young of Hesperia, CA, four grandchildren, Corbin Mertz, Olivia (Houston) Mendenhall, Mattea Mertz, and Nicole Nisleit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Marthas request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made in Marthas name to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Penn Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122, or Judith Karman Bristol Hospice, LLC, 915 South Main Street, Stillwater, OK 74047
