Marvin Dean Peck, known by loved ones as Marv, Butch, Uncle Marky, Daddy, Pops or Papa passed from this world peacefully to meet Jesus, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday January 18th, 2022 in Stillwater, OK. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Marvin was born in Rockford, IL to Marvin Elwood Peck and Betty Jean Rumsey, later the family relocated to Amarillo, TX. Despite being born in Illinois, Marvin was a true, blue Texan and he was very proud of that.
After graduating from Palo Duro High in Amarillo, Marv later met Julie Ann Hastings and the two were married on October 7, 1988 in Pampa, TX, where their first daughter, Ashley Dawn was born. Their small family later relocated to Cushing, OK, where they eventually welcomed their second child, Hanna Mariah on April 5, 1993. Marv was very proud of his daughters. Down the road, Marvin relocated back to Amarillo, so he could be close to his mother, as he was her beloved and favorite child, says Betty.
Once again…you guessed it, Marvin relocated, for the final time, to Stillwater, OK where his daughters resided, prior to the birth of his first and only biological Grandchild, a grandson, Landry Cooper. Many would attest that next to his daughters, Landry was the love of his lifetime, as he spent the next 7 years seeing him nearly every single day. Marvin loved and embraced being “Papa”, a title of which he was most proud.
Marv would re-visit Amarillo frequently over those 7 years, always going to visit his Mom and his friends Debbie and Lyndell Flowers, where he would help them, hours on end, in their shop and just enjoying their friendship.
At the time of his untimely death, Marv was employed by Timber Ridge Apartments as the Maintenance Supervisor in Cushing, OK, where he developed some meaningful relationships with the residents and their Manager, Jessica. Working with his hands was something Marv enjoyed very much. In fact, Marv was always called upon by his daughters, mother, grandson, son-in-law and really everyone that knew him, to come by and help them fix things. And sometimes, he would just do it without anyone asking. That’s the way he was.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father Marvin, mother-in-law Diane Oxley, brother-in-law John Sanchez, and niece Rachael Danielle Stevens.
Survivors include his mother Betty Peck of Amarillo, TX; Sister Cheryl Murray and Husband Don of Borger, TX; Sister Jennifer Sanchez and partner Hope Jackson of Amarillo, TX; Daughters Ashley Peck and Husband Geoff, Hanna Peck and fiance Eric, all of Stillwater, OK; His grandson and best buddy Landry Cooper Turner; Grandchildren Kylie, Iris and Nathan Turner; Chris and Aurora Simmons, all of Stillwater, OK. Also, four Nieces, two Nephews, four Great Nephews and one Great Niece.
