Mary Eleanor (Booth) Spencer, 85, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2021. A celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 10 am at Countryside Baptist Church in Stillwater with Pastor Randy Booth, nephew of Mary Spencer and Pastor Justin Beadles of Countryside Baptist Church officiating. Dighton-Marler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary was born to Eleanor Estelle Booth and Robert Booth on July 10, 1936, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She spent part of her childhood in Nacogdoches before moving to Shreveport, Louisiana where she graduated from Fair Park High School in 1954. Mary’s mother, Eleanor, remarried to the man that Mary would know and love as her father, Maxwell M. (Robby) Robbins when Mary was a teenager.
While living and working in Shreveport, Mary was part of a local bowling league. On her team, was a woman named Neva Spencer. Neva had a son named Gary, who would become Mary’s husband of 45 years. Mary and Gary married on September 15, 1962 in Marshall, Texas. Mary and Gary had a wonderful life together living in Shreveport, Louisiana, Boulder, Colorado and finally ending up in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where they enjoyed OSU football, basketball, baseball, and wrestling for many years.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Susie Sexton and her husband Micah of Stillwater, Pam Holcomb and her husband Russ of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and her stepdaughter, Sherry Penrod and her husband Larry of Reno, Nevada. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abby Sexton of Oklahoma City, Audrey Sexton of Stillwater, Jason Penrod of Kansas City, Missouri and Justin Penrod of San Francisco, California.
Mary is also survived by her awesome big brother, Robert O. Booth and his wife Lucille of Shreveport, Louisiana. Mary and Bobby had a very close relationship through the years and she adored him. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and even more great-great nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Gary Spencer, both parents, Eleanor O Robbins and Maxwell M. (Robby) Robbins.
