A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jo Sohrwide, 52, of Stillwater, OK is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Ken Harder officiating. A Rosary will be said by Father Stuart Crevcoure at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
Mary Jo was born on September 27, 1955 in Tulsa, OK to Harold and Gladys (Davis) Dillon. She grew up and attended schools in Tulsa, graduating, top ten of her class, from East Central High School in 1973. She graduated Cum Laud, number 1 in her class, from Baylor University in 1977 with a B.S. in Nursing. She married Kerry Patrick Sohrwide on December 30, 1978. She began her nursing career in 1979 at Stillwater Medical Center. She went on to receive her Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in 1999.
Mary Jo worked with the Stephens Ministry in Stillwater, served on the Board of Directors for Judith Karman Hospice, worked for Warren Clinic, and volunteered her services at the Stillwater Health Clinic and OSU Student Health Center.
Mary Jo passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2008 in Tulsa, OK. At the time of her death, she was employed at Breedlove Dermatology Clinic in Stillwater and Ponca City, Deaconess Hospital Urgent Care in Oklahoma City, and the Urgent Care and Family Practice Clinic in Ponca City.
She is survived by husband, Patrick of the home; two daughters, Laura Lewis of Stillwater and Taylor Sohrwide of Edmond; one grandson, Beckham Lewis of Stillwater; one aunt, Mary Dillon of Illinois; one sister, Susan Turner and her husband, Charlie of Bixby; one niece, Elizabeth Turner of Tulsa; one nephew, Matthew Turner of Colorado and numerous cousins.
Randy Groom, Charlie Turner, Dr. Michael Smith, Scott Noble, Stuart Hunter, and Richard Snyder will be serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be the many Goatroasters nationwide that MJo loved dearly. A memorial fund has been established for the Mary Jo Sohrwide Family Center room of the Judith Karman Hospice Care Center. Donations may be sent to Judith Karman Hospice, P.O.
