Mary Lou Low

April 12, 1926 — February 20, 2015

Mary Lou Low, 88, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City with her family by her side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Perry. Pastor Martin Foster will officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24. 2015. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mary Lou was born on April 12, 1926 in Milfay, Oklahoma to the late Robert and Oda (Birdwell) Irvin. During the depression years, her family moved as migrant harvesters to Washington and Oregon and finally settled back in Bristow, Oklahoma. Mary Lou married the love of her life, Delard Low, on March 29, 1948 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. They lived in Bristow and Okmulgee before moving to Holdenville where they made their home for over fifty-five years. Mary Lou worked as a seamstress at SeamProof, then as a clerk for Dalton's Hardware until retirement. She was a member of Mother's Club and an avid bowler. She attended the Community of Christ Church in Seminole. Mary Lou enjoyed going to the lake and camping with her family and friends. She loved to sew and quilt. She made numerous quilts throughout her life. Even after she lost some of her vision, she continued to quilt. The love that she poured into her quilts could be wrapped around those who received the new quilt. Mary Lou and Delard moved to Perry in May of 2013 to be near their daughter and family. After moving to Perry, she became an active member of the First Christian Church and the women's activities in the church. She was a member of the Cherokee Strip Quilt Guild. She went to the Methodist church to work with the ladies who made special Prayer Quilts. Mary Lou and Delard enjoyed playing cards with her family and with the Couple's Card Game night. Mary Lou made many new friends and participated in many activities. She loved to send a morning email to her family and talk on the telephone to family and friends. She loved to share her stories. Survivors include her husband Delard Low of the home, daughter Helen Fuller and husband Johnny of Perry, son Montie Low and wife Linda of Norman, sister Lillian Martin of Bristow, brothers, Harley Irvin and wife Betty of Oklahoma City, Leonard Irvin and wife Emma of Bristow, Ralph Irvin and wife Virginia of Burlington, North Carolina, and Dale Irvin and wife Betty of Midwest City: Grandchildren Kevin Low and wife Jennifer, Amber Low, Elizabeth Low, Mickey Fuller and wife Rachelle, Roger Fuller and wife Mandy, Blake Fuller and wife Angie: eleven great grandchildren: and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bobby Gene Irvin.
