Mary Lou Sturgeon, 90, passed from this life on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Her services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater on Thursday, September 6, at 10:00 am. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 5, from 8 am till 8 pm.
Mary Lou was born on March 28, 1922 in Denver, Colorado to Albert and Hazel Huft. She was raised in Chicago and moved back to Denver at thirteen years old. Mary Lou was an accomplished pianist and singer and she accepted Christ at 11 years old. Her musical talent would prove to be a calling that would take her all over the world, including Israel and Europe. She was a compassionate, caring mother to all who gave good advice, kept needs in confidence, and was a great encourager. She was married to the love of her life, Daniel Sturgeon on March 2, 1945 in Denver, with Rev. David C. Bailis officiating. Reverend Sturgeon and Mary Lou established Gospel Chapel in the Spring of 1987, and the church has been at its present location on Union Rd for 12 years.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Daniel, a brother, Kenneth Huft of Castle Rock, Colorado, nephews Larry Huft, Mark Huft , and Guy Huft, a niece, Debbie, and special friend, Gene Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Howard Huft.
