Mary Louise Stocker (McGee), 78, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on May 9, 2022. Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
She was born on May 21, 1943, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Hazel Ida McGee (Swalley) and James Dewitt McGee Sr. She had placed her faith in Jesus Christ as Savior when she was a child and grew up in the church. She enjoyed attending Falls Creek in the summer while growing up and her experiences there helped influence her college of choice. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University on a singing scholarship and always loved music. She played the piano in church and loved singing and playing classical music on the piano.
She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1961 and married her sweetheart, Lester Clyde Stocker on June 4, 1962, in the Pawnee Baptist Church. They began raising her boys in Edmond before moving to Claflin, KS then to Douglas, WY. In addition to her work as a wife and mother, she was a successful Avon distributor while living in Claflin, KS; then a long-time secretary for the Burt Butcher State Farm Agency in Douglas, WY; then a Customer Service agent for Office Max before retiring and moving back to Stillwater, OK in 2015.
Mary never met a stranger and she loved to fellowship with friend and family. Her home-made chicken and noodles were so good, her mother and all her aunts would request she make them for family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Easter. Mary’s Thanksgiving dressing and summer sausage recipes are a favorite and still being shared among friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother James D. McGee Jr. She is survived by sons Gary D. Stocker (wife Cheryl) of Allen, TX and Steven D. Stocker of Great Bend, KS. She is also survived by grandchildren, Heather Stocker of Allen, TX; Alex Stocker of Allen, TX; Ryan Stocker of Great Bend, KS; and Allison Stocker of Great Bend, KS.
