Mary Ann Cammin White, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 88.
Mary Ann was born on November 1, 1936, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Beulah and Howard Cammin. As the fourth of nine children, she grew up in a lively household, where her joy and smile shone brightly. These qualities defined her life, spreading love and kindness to all who were fortunate to know her.
Mary Ann’s journey of faith and education led her to Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois, where she met the love of her life, Richard “Bud” White. They were married in 1958 and embarked on a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared purpose. In 1969, they moved to Charleston, Illinois, where they built a life centered on family and community.
A passionate and gifted educator, Mary Ann began her career teaching elementary school, where her creativity and warmth inspired countless young minds. Later, she joined Eastern Illinois University’s education department, mentoring aspiring teachers with the same dedication she showed in the classroom. Her impact on students and colleagues alike was profound, leaving a legacy of excellence in education.
Mary Ann’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived with a servant’s heart, finding joy in acts of kindness and generosity. Her family was her greatest pride, and her laughter filled countless cherished memories. Whether traveling with Bud, taking long trips on their motorcycle, or hosting family gatherings, Mary Ann’s love and sense of fun made every moment unforgettable.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bud, Mary Ann is survived by her loving children, Robin (Sergio) Darmon and Mark (Karen) White; her grandchildren, Alex and Sarah Darmon and Blake (Kyra), and Jesse White; and her great-grandchildren, Mary Rose, Joya Darmon, and Easton. She also leaves behind a legacy of love with her siblings, nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Mary Ann’s kindness, humor, and steadfast faith leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her smile and laughter were truly contagious, and her thoughtful, selfless nature was an inspiration. She and Bud shared a life of adventure and joy, creating a legacy of love that will be treasured forever. Mary Ann Cammin White will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, her joyous spirit, and the boundless love she shared with the world. She is deeply missed and forever cherished.
