Matthew Dickens, a resident of Hennessey, and beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 40. Born on June 17, 1984, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Matthew’s life was marked by his unwavering love for his family, dedication to his career, and his generous spirit.
A proud graduate of Glencoe High School in 2002, Matthew went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He was employed as a section manager with Seaboard Foods since 2010, where he was known for his commitment to excellence and his strong work ethic. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his farm tending to his cattle, sheep, and his canine companion, Penny.
Matthew was a loving and kind individual, always ready to lend a helping hand to local children with their activities, whether it be a livestock project or a sports event. He was the biggest supporter of his children, Cale, Adin, and Leah, often seen at livestock shows with them, sharing in their joy and achievements. His devotion to his wife, Katelynd Dickens, and their children was evident in all he did; he cherished his family above all else.
In addition to his dedication to family and work, Matthew enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He loved horseback riding, fishing, and hunting, and was an avid OSU fan, proudly supporting his alma mater in every event. His generous spirit and kindness were felt by many, and he formed countless friendships throughout his life.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Katelynd Dickens(High school Sweetheart); his children, Cale, Adin, and Leah Dickens; his two sisters, Krystal Voight (Jeremy) of Glencoe, Oklahoma, and Macy Revier (Cory) of Morrison, Oklahoma; his parents, Douglas and Sherryl (Grubbs) Dickens of Glencoe, Oklahoma; two grandmothers, Valeria Kennedy and Sharon Corbin, both of Glencoe, Oklahoma; Katelynd's parents, Randy and Yvonne Corbin of Glencoe, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Kirk Humble (Jamie) of Glencoe, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Kyla Busch (Clint) of Morrison, Oklahoma; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a countless number of friends.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Henry Dickens; maternal grandparents, Billie and Lonetta Grubbs; and his uncle, Billy Grubbs.
Those who knew him will remember Matthew as a generous soul who had a profound impact on everyone around him. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10AM at the Glencoe School Gymnasium with Brent Haken officiating, followed by interment at Glencoe South Cemetery. Levi Estes, Cory Revier, Jeremy Voight, Cary Shell, Chancer McPherson, and Kirk Humble will serve as pallbearers. Viewing will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Dighton Marler Funeral Home from 9AM to 8PM. The family will be present to greet guests from 5PM to 7PM that evening.
Matthew Dickens’ spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
