Melody R. Jones, 54, of Morrison, passed from this life on July 18, 2013 in Oklahoma City, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a graveside service celebrating Melodys life will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Morrison Cemetery.
Melody Rae Burgess was born on Oct 19, 1958 to Jim and Eva Rae (Barnard) Burgess in Fairfax, OK. She grew up and attended schools in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School. Following her graduation, Melody worked a short time for Equity Insurance in Blackwell before leaving to begin a career as a medical transcriptionist for Fairfax Memorial Hospital. Melody moved to Wichita Falls, TX, where she was blessed by the birth of her two children John Thomas and Erin Colleen. She was employed at the hospital in Wichita Falls for more than 20 years. After leaving Texas, Melody relocated to Okmulgee where she worked from home as a medical transcriptionist before retiring due to illness.
In 2002, Melody met Terance Jones and she moved to Morrison to be with him. In 2004 Melody and Terance were married at a ceremony at the Fairfax Christian Church. Melody and Terance were blessed with 9 wonderful years of marriage.
Melody was a kind and giving woman who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her children very much. She enjoyed gardening, doing needlepoint, playing, the piano, reading, and spending time with her husband. Melody Jones was a loving wife, a proud mother, a caring sister and a loyal friend. She will be missed by all those whom her life touched.
Melody is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Terance Jones, of the home. Two children: John Thomas Smith of Sioux Falls, SD and Erin Smith of Beggs, OK. A brother: Mike burgess and wife Linda of Fairfax, OK. A sister: Jami Burgess of Fairfax, OK. A niece: Karilee Damron. A nephew: Rodney Damron and fiance Corki Marsh. 3 great nieces and nephews: Jake Marsh, Abby Marsh, and Dougan Damron. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flower the family asks that donations be made in Melodys name to the OK Autism Network.
