Michael Joseph Mclafferty

Michael Joseph McLafferty, 63 , passed from this life on Friday, January 15, 2016 A service under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Life.Church. Public visitation will be held on Monday, January 18th from 8am-8pm with family greeting friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Mike was born on March 8, 1952 in Devol, OK to Margaret ( McLafferty) Lawson. He grew up in Columbia, SC and graduated from EauClare High School in 1970. Soon after college, he met Sharon Wofford and fell in love. On November 5, 1974, they pledged their love for one another and spent 42 loving years together. They moved to Rock Hill, SC to start their lives together. They had three children: Christy, Scott, and Jacob. When he was away from work, you could find Mike spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing. In 1992, Mike and Sharon moved to Stillwater, where he took a job at OSU.
Mike was very family oriented. He loved watching his children grow in every aspect of their lives. He especially loved watching Joshua and Charlie play soccer and skyping with Lydia. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Don Lawson and father-in-law, Francis Wofford.
Michael is survived by his wife, Sharon McLafferty; three children, Scott McLafferty and wife, Sarah Berger, Jacob McLafferty, Christy Wendel and husband, Mark; three grandchildren, Joshua Wendel, Charlie Wendel, and Lydia McLafferty; mother and two siblings, Margaret Lawson, Rick Lawson and Ned McLafferty
