Mickey Hockett

December 9, 1943 — October 29, 2014

Mick Hockett, 70, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in his home surrounded by family. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, November 3, 2014 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home chapel, with Pastor Curt Anderson officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home.
Mick was born on December 9, 1943 in Oilton, OK to Sherman and Marie (Stanley) Hockett. He grew up in Drumright, attended Drumright High School and joined the Army in 1961. He worked various jobs in the oil and gas industry before starting his own roofing business. Later he joined the staff at Oklahoma State University and worked in the maintenance department for many years. He loved working on campus, so much that after officially retiring in 2003 he returned to work there part time on two separate occasions. Mick enjoyed attending OSU football and basketball games with his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling and attending car shows in his free time. He was one of the nicest guys you would meet and would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. He truly valued every friendship he ever made.
Mick loved his family more than anything; always putting his family first. Those who knew him know that he enjoyed giving family and friends a hard time. Mick was a great man. He loved his family and his job. He loved his life and was the happiest when he could give someone a hard time and make them laugh. He will be greatly missed.
Mick is survived by two daughters, Monica Casey of Stillwater and Susan A. Cooper and husband, Ron of Cushing; two brothers, Dale G. Hockett and wife, Betty of Norman, and Gary D. Hockett and wife, Goldie of Shawnee; two grandchildren, David Cooper and Ashley Cooper; three great grandchildren, Sabra, Mason, and Makenna.
Mick was preceded in death by his wife, Treva (Hillhouse) Hockett of 34 years, his
parents, Sherman and Marie (Stanley) Hockett, and three brothers, Sherman Skip D.
Hockett, Eldon C. Hockett, and Edward Z. Hockett.
