Mike Radford, 58, of Stillwater went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2012. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Glencoe I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Thursday evening.
Mike was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Elmer and Aline (Cook) Radford on July 15 1953. He was raised in Ponca City where he also attended schools. He started working at age 15 as a masons tender. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Linda Poulter. The couple had three wonderful children, Bobby, Amber, and Laura. Mike spent many years working for the city of Ponca City in sanitation and utilities maintenance. In 1992, Mike was injured and disabled in a car accident and relocated to Ingalls to recover with the assistance of his brother, Jerry Radford. In 2000, Mike accepted a position with custodial services at Oklahoma State University, where he proudly worked until his passing.
Mike was a hard working man who refused to let his disability keep him from full time employment. When he was not working, Mike loved to go fishing and squirrel and coon hunting. He had a profound love for all animals, especially his dogs Leon and Delmer. Mike was a ornery practical joker who loved to laugh and to make others smile. He will be deeply missed by his family, coworkers, and all who were lucky enough to call him a friend.
Mike is survived by a son Bobby Radford, 2 daughters, Amber Radford and husband Jon, Laura Radford and boyfriend Jamie, 8 granddaughters, Jade, Candace, and Breanna Radford, Desirae, Shelby, and Kinsley Frisch, and Katelynn and Kaylee Elmore. A great grandson Mason. A sister Barbara Delaney and her husband Jack of Stillwater, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry Radford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Stillwater Animal Shelter in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075.
