Mildred Inez (Anderson) Rice was born May 1, 1913 to Samuel and Laura Anderson in Memphis, Texas. Mildred married Bruce Gaylord in 1930 and had two children. She then married Carl Green in 1944 and the couple had two children. Carl preceded her in death in 1971. After his death, Mildred married Clarence Buddy Rice until his death in the late 1970s. She worked as a school cafeteria supervisor in Oklahoma City and has been a resident of Stillwater for the past 13 years.
Mildred is remembered as being a mother and best friend. She was always there for people and could be counted on. She was a very happy individual with a pleasant outlook on life. She was very supportive and could find the best in the worst situations. Mildred had a great sense of humor and was a very loving lady. She loved spending time with and was very proud of her family. She enjoyed the time she spent with her friends. Mildred also loved to travel and was known to simply get in her car and go. She is best described as a very caring woman who was willing to help anyone in need.
Mildred passed away on March 21, 2006 at the Grace Living Center in Stillwater, OK. She was 92 years old. She is survived by two sons, Lee Green and wife Brenda, James Gaylord; one daughter, Sue Blake and husband Bill; six grandsons; seven granddaughters; 14 great grandchildren; very close nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Green, one daughter, Janice Fish, one daughter-in-law, Judy Gaylord, one sister and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Harold Hutchins will be officiating. The family has entrusted Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with the services.
