Morley Longmore

Morley Wilson Longmore, 90, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed from this earth on September 1, 2008, Labor Day.
He was born February 27, 1918, in San Diego, California, to Elsie (Thompson) and Charles Longmore. He was raised in Chino Valley, Arizona and graduated from Prescott High School. He married Alice Lundquist in 1942. He worked in potato processing plants in Idaho and Washington.
He first served in the Navy in 1937. At the beginning of World War II, he volunteered again and served in the Pacific, earning a Bronze Star award for heroism. He volunteered again in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. During his Navy service, he rose from the rank of Seaman to Lieutenant Commander. He loved the Navy and his country.
He married Mildred Broaddus in 1972. He and Mildred started their own water pump and crane service business in Grass Valley, California. Mildred predeceased him in 1996. In 1998, Morley moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma.
He was a 32nd degree Mason, a life member of The Order of Eastern Star, and a 60-year member of the Elks. He had a great sense of humor and a big heart. He was an exemplary member of the greatest generation who worked hard all of his life and served his country with pride. Many were blessed by his generosity and his genuine interest in and love for people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Stanley and Elvin Longmore.
He is survived by one sister, Leota Bell, of Yucca Valley, California; one son Morley Longmore and wife, Mary of Reno, Nevada; one daughter Nancy Horn and husband Jim of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one step-daughter Brenda Isasi and husband Roy of Hendersonville, North Carolina; one granddaughter Candice Longmore of Ione, California; two grandsons Jason Horn and wife Jessica of Santa Rosa, California and Justin Horn and fiance Anna Zeide of Madison, Wisconsin and one great-grandson, Joshua Longmore of Ione, California.
According to his wishes, his body will be cremated and buried at sea in the Pacific by the U.S. Navy. A memorial service will be held December 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Stillwater at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
