Nadine Caroline Wisler, 91, passed from this life Thursday morning at the home of her son and daughter-in-law north of Stillwater. Her funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Sunnybrook Christian Church, with Interment to follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery south of Stillwater. Adult Minister Paul Weece officiating. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to Sunnybrook Christian Church. Nadine was born September 5, 1917 to John and Pearl Strickland in Stratford, OK. On August 14, 1951, she married Bill Wisler in Shawnee, OK. They had 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Mrs. Wisler graduated from Horace Mann High School in Ada and attended East Central University before receiving her Bachelors in Physical Education from Central State University. A self proclaimed mean ol P.E. Teacher, she taught high school in Fairfax, OK, Shawnee, OK, and San Bernadino, CA, as well as classes at Central State University and UCLA. She also taught countless community swimming, dance, and tennis lessons. For a time in her life she was a professional dancer, along with her first husband, Eugene Purgeson. She studied with many of the foremost choreographers of the day in the Hollywood area. Her last few years were spent living with her daughter, Susan and being cared for by her grandson, Michael. She was a member of the Chickasaw Tribe and a founding member of Sunnybrook Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Walter Strickland of Oklahoma City, Thurman Strickland and J. W. Strickland of Shawnee. Survivors include 1 son, Roscoe Wisler and his wife Patti of Stillwater; 4 daughters, Eudine Sheldon of Oceanside, CA., Carole Marie of Los Angeles, CA., Diane Keenom and her husband Roy of Stillwater and Susan Chamberlin of Stillwater; 11 grandchildren Jeannine Mountain, Darren Sheldon, Angie Lindley, Jesse Chamberlin, Desirae Wisler, Jonathan Harper, Michael Chamberlin, Steven Wisler, Kari Mayon, Stacy Fouchs, and Kim Bunger; plus 17 great grandchildren; 2 sister-in-laws, Dorothy Strickland and Mabel Ruth Stephanic; numerous nieces, and nephews, and cousins by the dozens.
