Nellie Alderson

Nellie Delora Alderson, born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on October 6, 1932, and passed away at age of 91 on June 27, 2024.

Nellie married the love of her life, Donald Jack Alderson, on August 31, 1950, and together they embarked on a journey that spanned decades. Nellie attended Eureka High School in Glencoe, OK, graduating in 1949. She continued her education at Oklahoma A&M, studying accounting, which would serve her well throughout her life.

Nellie and Jack's life journey took them from Oklahoma to Alexandria, Louisiana, where their son Donald was born, and later to Riverside, California, where they established a successful dry-cleaning business, Suburban Dry Cleaners. It was in Riverside that they welcomed their daughter Renee into their lives. Nellie was deeply involved in the life of Calvary Baptist Church in Riverside, where her faith flourished, and she found great joy in community service.

After over 35 years of running Suburban Dry Cleaners, Nellie and Jack returned to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where they retired in 1996.

Nellie cherished her roots in Stillwater, where she grew up with seven loving siblings who affectionately referred to her as “Sister”. Nellie was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. She touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and warm smile. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents Warren and Hazel Ritter, and two brothers Warren John Ritter and Gene Ritter. She is survived by four brothers, Bob, Steve, Charlie, and Doyle, and her sister Norma Porter. Nellie is also survived by her two children, Donald Wayne Alderson of Stillwater and Renee Neilson of Rancho Cucamonga, California. She was a loving grandmother to Samantha and Sarah Neilson, Angie Patterson, Reed Dunn, and five loving great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with family greeting guests from 6-8 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Dighton Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Glencoe South Cemetery in Glencoe.

Nellie will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
