Nita Rae Roesler, 83, a loving mother and retired registered nurse, was born January 21, 1939, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the daughter of Wayne C. Anderson and Zula Mae Felts Anderson. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 30, 2022, at Green Valley Nursing Home.
Nita grew up in Stillwater where her parents owned and operated Andy’s Grocery for decades. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1957. She graduated Magna Cum Laud from Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing in 1973. As a registered nurse, she worked at Perry Memorial Hospital as Director of Nursing, Assistant Administrator, and Infectious Control Nurse, and for Dr. John Sayre
Nita was very talented and creative trying many crafts and art forms before discovering quilting. She loved figuring out the patterns, choosing the material, gifting others with her creations, and she loved meeting with other quilters. Nita inspired many with her caring and compassion for people, which she extended to animals as well. Her dogs and cats provided her much entertainment and comfort. Given the opportunity she would regale you with stories of their antics. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
In 1974, she married Gordon Roesler. She is survived by five children: Jodi Mount (John), Villa Rica, Georgia; Judi Krause (Dave), Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania; Jeri Rhoden (Eddy), Owasso, Oklahoma; Joni Kessler, Universal City, Texas; and Jon Alexander, Perry, Oklahoma. She is also survived by a close cousin, Rita Richards; her grandchildren: Luke Mount (Anna), Jeremy Skinner, Lee Kessler (Katie), Nita Smith, Ariel Kessler and Karly Alexander-Rupp (Zachary), Kensie Meredity, Andrea French (Nathan); and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Shayne Mount, great grandson Jace Rupp and her brother, Wayne C. Anderson.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. October 4, 2022 at the Church of The Nazarene with Rev. Steve Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 3, at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Perry. The family will greet guests from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers are Luke Mount, Jeremy Skinner, Lee Kessler, IV, Nita Smith, Ariel Kessler, Karly Alexander-Rupp, Bryce Baird, and Braden Baird.
