Norma Jean Zemp, 94, of Perry passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 in Perry, Oklahoma. She was born January 5, 1928 in Sumner, Oklahoma to Rufus Stout and Iva Lee (Howell) Stout. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 1:00PM to 6:00PM at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Perry. Family will be greeting guests from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Service will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Perry with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry.
Pallbearers will be Gary Snyder, Jesse Balderson, Ronnie Bay, Bryan Chrz, Michael Pratchett, Marty Gallaway, Seth Cookerly, and Jeremy Zemp. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
Norma Jean grew up in the Sumner area. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1945. She met Glen Howard Zemp and they were married April 7, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Perry. Norma worked for Ditch Witch for 18 years. She was one of the first five women hired to work in the shop. She also worked for Swan Rubber for 7 years. Norma Jean loved to cook. She was an excellence cook and loved doing it. She will be remembered for her famous noodles she made at the Noble County fair for many years. She always loved cooking for family dinners she would have at her home. She also fixed many lunches for the workers in the field. She also enjoyed yard work, taking care of her flower beds and mowing the yard. She also enjoyed playing dominos and cards in her pastime with her friends.
Norma is survived by her children, Jerry Zemp and wife Beverly of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Steve Zemp and wife Shelia of Perry, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Jeremy Zemp and wife Amanda of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Ashley Pritchett and husband Michael of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Stephanie Cookerly and husband Seth of Perkins, Oklahoma, and Seleste Balderson and husband Jesse of Perry, Oklahoma; Eight great-grandchildren; sister, Wynema Bay of Perry.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; brother, Everett Stout, and sister, Evelyn Spillman.
