Norma W Horton

August 22, 1922 — February 22, 2006

Norma was born August 22, 1922 in Perkins, Oklahoma to John Lewis and Nellie M (Lore) Wilson.
When she was seven the family moved to Stillwater. Norma attended Stillwater schools and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1940. She then attended college for 2 years at Oklahoma A & M College and received her certificate in Secretarial training.
Immediately after graduating she worked for the Navy Radar Training School located at O.A.M.C. until she accepted a position as secretary in the Entomology Department. She later worked in the Law Office of Guy L. Horton, and later in the offices of Hoel and Horton, where she was fortunate to be a legal secretary for 25 years.
She married Kenneth C. Horton on January 22, 1944 in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Kenneth and Norma enjoyed their retirement years in the out-of-doors looking after their cattle.
Kenneth passed away on August 11, 1993.
Normas hobbies were her dogs. As of March 25, 2003, she had three loving dogs; Annie, an Australian Shepherd, Laddie, and Bob, both collies.
Norma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Church Circle, Beta Sigma Phi, Home Extension (Evening Star), Lady Ikes, Stillwater Womans Association, Stillwater Christian Women, and the After 5 Club.
She is survived by a Niece, Shelly Pratt Mosley; Nephews Tim W. Weaver, Michael Mosley, Nieces Shelly Sue Cleveland, and Renae Weaver; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Duane and Opal Horton and a nephew David Horton, a sister-in-law Jeannie Horton, Nephews Kelly Horton and family, Max Horton and family, Tommy Thompson, Terry Horton and family and Rick Miles. Nieces, Karmelita Spears and Kathy Smith and her husband. Great-great nieces include Mikah Cleveland, Brittany Cleveland and Erin Cleveland. She is also survived by her good friend Virgil Danforth.
Norma asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Stillwater Humane Society.
Services for Ms. Horton will be held Saturday, February 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Norman Richmond will officiate. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 2pm 8 pm on Thursday February 23rd, 8am-8pm on Friday February 24th, and 9am-1pm on Saturday February 25th.
