Oleta R Dunbar

Oleta Ray Dunbar was born on July 30th, 1929 to Roy and Lola (Armstrong) Ray in Gilmer, Texas. She was raised and went to school in Texas and then moved to Oklahoma after her marriage to Clarence Dunbar on January 23rd, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas. The family has lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma since 1952.
Oleta worked as a beauty operator and owned her own salon for over 14 years. In her free time, she liked to knit and crochet. She was also a talented seamstress and made many of her childrens clothing. She loved to read and also enjoyed playing cards. Oleta is remembered as being a wonderful cook and absolutely loved cooking. She would go above and beyond the call of duty to cook many dishes for holidays and special events. She prepared food for others out of love and kindness. She was a lady who truly cared for others and did whatever she possibly could to help them. Oleta loved spending time with her family. She traveled to many various destinations in their motor home and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also had made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She was a very hard working, dedicated and loving woman, mother and wife. She was married to Clarence for over 57 years. Oleta also had a passionate love for the Lord. She was a member of Sunnybrook Christian Church and cherished spending time in her church and with church activities.
Oleta passed away on July 7th, 2006 at her home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was 76 years old. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Dunbar of the home; one son, Bill Dunbar and wife Linda of Stillwater; one daughter, Debbie Jones of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Matthew Dunbar of Dallas, TX, Mark and Paige Dunbar of Stillwater, Craig Jones and wife Megan of Overland Park, KS; one brother, Tommy Ray and wife Jan of Longview, TX; nephew Chris Ray and wife Juliette; brother in law, Jack Dunbar and wife Ruth Anne with children Billy and Jacque; sisters in law, Mildred Dunbar, Lois Jenkins, Wanda Wheeler and husband Ercel with children Steve and Becky, Huleen Walker and children Dennis Lane and Otis Ray; nephew, Raymond Dunbar of Carrolton, TX; other nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Durand Ray.
Services for Oleta Dunbar will be held on Monday, July 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Sunnybrook Christian Church. Bro. Jim Johnson and Deacon Bill Dunbar will be officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
