Olis Vern Thompson

Olis Vern Thompson, 90, lifelong resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his daughters home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. Funeral service is scheduled for 3:00PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 9:00am to 8:00pm with family greeting guest from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Olis was born on March 7, 1926 to Roy and Lizzie (Brown) Thompson in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Mary Anna Casey on December 18, 1954 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage. With this marriage two Daughters were born, Cathy and Ruthy. Olis served his country proudly in the United States Army.
Olis was a member of the Non Denominational Home Fellowship in Stillwater. He was a "jack of all trades". He was a machinist and liked to tinker with everything. He enjoyed spending time with his cattle and most of all with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anna Thompson of the home; two daughters, Cathy Beekmann and husband Fred of Owasso, Oklahoma and Ruthy DeBoer and husband Pete of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one sister, Mary McLaughlin and husband Chuck of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Martha Malone and husband Dustin, Betsy Pontious and husband Eric all of Owasso, Oklahoma, Zory, Kory, and Tori DeBoer all of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Lori DeBoer of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lizzie Thompson; one brother, Loal Thompson; and one sister, Wanda Clinkenbeard.
