Orin Gale Snyder

July 24, 1923 — October 7, 2015

Orin Gale Snyder, 92, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at his residence. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9 from 8 am to 8pm at the funeral home.

Orin was born on July 24, 1923 in Douglas, Oklahoma to Dorcy and Bertha Mammie (Attabury) Snyder. Orin grew up in Douglas and attended and graduated from Douglas HS in 1940. He was drafted in to the United States Army Infantry during the WWII. He served in the Philippines for 1 years during the war. He served his country proudly. At the age of 80, he was heard to say, If all I could do is pass out toilet paper, I would go back to serve my country.

After returning home from the war he married Genevieve Hesser on November 26, 1946. They lived in Perry then moved to Stillwater in 1954 when they resided on a farm where they began Snyder Dairy. Orin dairied for a number of years when he started building rent houses. Orin was a member of the Moose Lodge. He and his wife started dealing in Antiques and traveled all over the world on their antique money. He and his wife worked hard on the farm, always working together. He enjoyed everything in nature, all the animals, and everything from mountain tops to the sea shores. He relished life. He loved his family and spent many fun hours with all of his grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Orin was liked and respected by everyone who knew him. He was as honest as the day is long. He would do anything for anyone. There are no bad words for Orin Snyder. He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.

He is survived by his wife Genevieve of the home, daughter Karan Brunken and husband Vince of Glencoe, grandchildren Gayle Cash, Shane Skinner, Tawnie Solpietro, Joshua Skinner, great grandchildren Derrick, Amber, Zachary,Orin, Taurie, Miranda, Heather, Cynthia Yunie, great great grandchildren Elizabeth, Trevin, Mason and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dee, Olin, Lavon, Roy, Mervin, sisters Ethel Franke, Vesta and Veda Osborn.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Orin's name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
