Longtime Ponca City resident Orville Wade Perciful, 83, went to be with his savior on January 6, 2012. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday January 11, 2012 at the Longwood Baptist Church in Ponca City, OK.
Orville Perciful was born on June 13, 1928 to Fred and Farncis (Wyatt) Perciful in Wetumka, OK. He grew up and attended schools in the Wetumka area. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Orville was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. While in Japan, he met and married his best friend and the love of his life, Kimie Myazaki. This marriage would last more than 40 years. Orville loved his wife as much when she passed away in 1992, as he did the day they were married.
In 1952, the couple returned stateside and relocated to Tulsa, OK, where Orville accepted a position as a mechanist. In 1955, the Perciful family moved to Ponca City, OK. Orville began working as a machinist in a machine shop in Ponca City, a job he held for over 20 years. In 1975, Orville left the machine shop and began a second career selling insurance in Kay County. After 10 years in the insurance industry, he returned to the machine shop, before his eventual retirement in the mid 1990s. In the mid-1990s, Orville married his longtime friend Virginia Green and they shared many great memories before her death several years later.
When he was not working, Mr. Perciful loved to be outdoors. He would often go hunting, fishing, or golfing with his two sons. He also enjoyed gardening, playing softball, spending time with his family, and coaching wrestling at the Ponca City YMCA, which he help establish in Ponca City many years ago.
Orville was a kind hearted and generous man who loved to make others smile. He was a consummate jokester who enjoyed being ornery and giving his friends and family a good laugh. He was very outgoing and enjoyed the opportunity to announce a wrestling tournament or pick up his guitar and play you a song. Music was big part of his life. Above all else, Orville Wade Perciful will be remembered for his love of God and his family. He was a dedicated husband, a committed father, a loving grandfather, and a faithful friend. His legacy of love will endure through the lives of his family and friends and he will be missed by all those lucky enough to call him a friend.
Orville is survived by his son Terry Perciful and wife Lena, of Nixa, MO. Grandchildren: Timmy, Jason, Adam, Terod, and Amy Perciful, as well as Lacee
Perciful Marshall. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, both parents, a son Wayne Perciful, and a great granddaughter Jasmyne Marshall.
