Paul L. Spiva

Paul L. Spiva, 88, of Perkins, passed from this life on March 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins and will be held at 10:00am Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Mehan Union Church with Pastor Larry Eslinger officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, March 31, 2011.
Paul was born on November 26, 1922 in Stillwater, OK to Jonas and Louisa White Spiva. He was raised and attended school in the Sulphur area. While living in Sulphur, he met and married the love of his life, Albertha. After their marriage, they moved back to Stillwater. Shortly after arriving in Stillwater, Paul accepted a position as a ship painter in the San Diego area. Two years later, Paul and Albertha returned to Stillwater to raise their two sons.
Paul opened Paul Spiva Painting and began painting homes in the Stillwater area. He ran this business for 31 years before retiring. After retiring, Paul could be found fishing and camping with his family and friends at Grand Lake or Table Rock Lake. He was a member of the Ripley School Board for more than 10 years and was proud to be able to be on stage to present high school diplomas to both of his sons. Pauls legacy is that of a devoted husband, a loving father, and a faithful friend.
He is survived by his wife, Albertha, of the home. One son: David Spiva, of Perkins, OK. One brother: J.C. Spiva and wife, Marion, of Ripley, OK. One sister: Doris Wilson, of Tulsa, OK. Four grandchildren: Aaron Spiva, Gary Spiva, Jeff Spiva, and Donna Byram. He also leaves behind seven great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. A son: Don Spiva. His three sisters: Lena Allison, Reta Keys, and Lois Spiva. His three brothers: Howell Spiva, Willard Spiva, and Dale Spiva.
