Paul Purser

Paul Collum Purser,83 , of Guthrie passed from this life on January 31, 2016. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and a memorial service to celebrate Pauls life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at the Woodcrest Baptist Church 11300 S. Douglas in Guthrie with Pastor Gerald Johnson officiating.
Paul was born on August 16, 1932 in Chelsea, OK to Robert Brinkley and Cora Ellen (Price) Purser. He was raised in NE Oklahoma and attended high school in Tulsa. Following high school, he worked at several service stations in the OKC metro area. In 1954, Paul married Kathleen Hinman and they spent 22 years together before separating in 1976. In 1977, Paul married Beverly Hinson and they remained together until her passing in 2012. For the majority of his life, Paul ran his own two service stations in Bethany, OK. He also worked as a landscaper for a few years when he was younger. After selling his stations, Paul spent a few years working as a grocery selector at the Humpty Dumpty Warehouse in OKC before retiring in the early 1990s.
Paul was a kind and easy going man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, raising livestock, and spending time with his family. Paul Purser was a proud father, a caring grandfather, a loving husband, and a trusted friend and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly Purser, a son Paul Purser Jr., and siblings: Dale, Bob Lois, Vivian, and Wayne Purser. He is survived by his children Robert Purser and Patricia Harris; Siblings Betty Dean Hager and Joe Purser; step-son Mike Palmer; grand children: Ryan, Megan, Shannon, Jared, and Stan Harris; great grand children, Abigail and Emily Cooley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
