November 1, 1954 — February 2, 2025

Stillwater

Peggy Fleschute left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2nd, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born in Gassaway, W.V. on November 1st, 1954, to Howard and Betty Elliott. She grew up in Grove Oklahoma and came to Stillwater to attend Oklahoma State University. She graduated with her Master’s Degree in 1976, but she loved Stillwater and never left. She married the love of her life, Scott Fleschute on February 19th 1983. They had three girls, Lauree, Lindsey and Lisa along with 8 grandchildren, Kinsley, Nora, Donald, Sayde, Matthew, Gabriel, Isaiah and Alexander.

Peggy worked for the Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole officer based out of the Stillwater office for 21 years. She touched many people's lives throughout her career. She wanted everyone to succeed and to be safe even to the point that she plus another co-worker stood guard to prevent looting when the tornado hit Mulhall in 1999.

Peggy worked for the Wings of Hope for 20 years where she was a phenomenal and brave advocate. She made an impact in the lives of thousands of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Her strong work ethic, grit and heart for the hurting caused her to gain the respect of our judges, attorney generals, law enforcement and community at large. Those of us who got to work with her were beyond fortunate. She was just so smart. She knew the law, and she was the Queen of safety planning and assisting with writing protection orders. I don't think there was a legal question Peggy could not answer.

In the picture you will see the honor we bestowed on Peggy for her years of service to Stillwater Domestic Violence/Wings of Hope. I named a day in her honor, Peggy Fleschute Day. Credit goes to Marie Abraham-Robinson, former Wings of Hope director for the Wings of Hope section. Service details are to be announced at a future date.
