Phyllis Wilson, 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, in Perry, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 9am to 8pm with family greeting guests from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 2:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Perry, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Phyllis was born on May 27, 1942, in Last Chance, Oklahoma to Walter and Thelma (Campbell) Taylor. She grew up in Last Chance, Oklahoma and attended Mason Public Schools. She married Gene Wilson at her parents’ home on October 29, 1959, in Last Chance, Oklahoma.
Phyllis was the matriarch of the family and loved everything she could do with them. She loved making cookies for people on their birthdays, which her cookie recipe made an appearance on Good Morning America won America’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie. At Christmas time she always made cookies to give away at church. Her secret to making good cookies was a good oven, a good mixer and a family that always thought her cookies were delicious. She was well known for her jelly and sweet tea. She enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 state and would take each grandchild on vacation at separate times. She never missed any activities of her kids or grandchildren. Crocheting was a lifelong passion of hers. Church was also one of the most important aspects of her life.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents Walter and Thelma Taylor, sister Linda Glenn, brother Jimmie Taylor, and niece Rachelle Glenn.
She is survived by her children; Genia Gore and husband Tony, Suzanne Wilson, Cathy Miller and husband Larry, Doyle Wilson, Wayne Wilson and wife Heather, and Alan Wilson and wife Nancy; 34 grandchildren, Derrick, Kyle, Makinze, Leslea, Brent, Laynea, Trey, Luke, Shawn, Heide, Matthew, Erik, Mallory, Madison, Karleigh, Krystina, Andrew, Axel, Diesel, Samuel, Amber, Chelsea, Taylyne, Mariah, Nolan, Gabby, Gina, Perry, Jason, Logan, Leah, D.K., Carlee and Adrian as well as her great grandchildren, Finley, Charlotte, Connlee, Landree, Bowen, Cortnea, Camryn, Braylen, Carder, Jackson, Hollie, Harper, Trevor, Trenton, Triton, Lena, Thaddeus, Evyn, Winston, Lincoln, Kannon, Ridge, Olivia, Bailey, Maddi, Hattie, Hyland, Christopher, Ariana, Hannah, Henley. She is also survived by her siblings, Janice Curry and husband Teddy, Annette Phillips and husband Blaine, Jeanie Acord and husband John, Max Taylor, Micah Taylor and wife Wendy, John Taylor and wife Judy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
