Ramona Price, age 96, longtime Stillwater resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Renaissance in Stillwater. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Ramona was born on September, 25, 1928 in Enid, Oklahoma to Arthur and Mersa (Husted) Green.
At the age of twelve the family moved to Carney, Oklahoma where they farmed. She shared many stories about her four brothers and their school days. Some of them would play instruments and the others would march around the house to Onward Christian Soldiers! The neighbors would help each other with crops and share garden pickings and bake goods.
After graduation in 1947, Ramona and her friend came to Stillwater to work for a restaurant that served banquets. Ramona then went to Gate, Oklahoma to stay with her grandma and it was there she met Gene Price in 1948 and three months later they married. They were blessed with almost 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. They were blessed with two daughters, Glenda Faye in 1951 and Roma Gene in 1955.
In 1957 they moved to Stillwater where her parents lived. Then in 1967 they bought 80 acres and ran horse stables. Ramona cleaned houses for some college professors until Glenda was diagnosed with MS. She was a great caretaker.
Ramona wore many hats. She was a great wife, mother, cook and baker. That all started in 4H when her peanut butter cookies won at the Chandler Fair! She was an amazing seamstress of western shirts, jackets, dress pants, and blouses. Some of her creations even won at the Payne County Fair. It was not Christmas or birthday without a special designed article! She made many crafts, quilts, and even horse blankets over the years! If one of her small appliances broke, she tore it apart, fixed it and reassembled it! Good as new!
Starting in 1970 the family was involved with all kinds of horse events. Ramona could be found taking entries, working the concession stand or sitting with Glenda in the stands cheering for Gene and Roma. Ramona and Gene rode many a wagon train flagging traffic, cleaning trails at state parks and parades in several states.
Ramona was very involved at Mehan Union Church in the clothing program, hand quilting, helping with various diners and making Rice Krispies with pecans for VBS! She loved the Lord, her family, her Church family and the Ladies Bible Study.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; daughter, Glenda; brothers, WJ, Urban, and Jimmy. She is survived by her daughter, Roma Gene Brunton and husband Bill; along with several nieces and nephews.
