Raymond Mccullough

October 19, 1926 — November 14, 2011

Raymond McCullough, 85, of Stillwater, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 14,2011. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 17 at the Sumner Cemetery in Noble County.
Raymond Glenn McCullough was born on October 19, 1926 in Perry, OK to John M. McCullough and Elsie Shelton. He was raised in the Sumner area and graduated from Perry High School. After graduation, he obtained a college education and enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Philippines. After returning stateside, Raymond moved to Stillwater and began a long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone. He also met and married his best friend and wife of more than 42 years, Ella Pearl Wheatley. After nearly 20 yrs in Stillwater, Southwestern Bell relocated him to Ardmore, OK for 5 years and to Oklahoma City for several years. In the mid 1960s, Raymond and Ella retired back to Stillwater and settled on an acreage just north of town.
When Raymond was not working, he enjoyed fishing, traveling to Arizona, collecting Indian artifacts, painting with Ella, spending time spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and playing with his beloved best friend, his husky, Kyia. Raymond loved watching tv so much, that he installed a tv on his front porch so that he could watch sports and spend time outside with his dog at the same time. Raymond cheered for OSU, but was a true OU fan at heart. He was close to his son-in-law Joe Galloway and enjoyed making sure that all of his grandchildren owned a good pair of boots.
Ray was a generous man who enjoyed life. He was a donor to several Indian Foundations, as well as supporting projects at Skedee First Assembly of God. He would also purchase food for less fortunate residents in the Stillwater area. Ray was a loyal husband, a kind father, and a caring grandpa. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Raymond is survived by his daughter: Sue Galloway and husband Joe, of Coyle. Two grandchildren: Melissa Davis and husband John, of Coyle and Dennis Galloway and wife Vicky, of McCune, KS. Seven Great Grandchildren: Mikayla Dawes, Trace Dawes, Landon Davis, Christopher Galloway, Justin Galloway, Tiffany Galloway, and Kayla Galloway.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ella McCullough, a granddaughter Roberta Ann Galloway, and several brothers and sisters.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, make donations in Raymonds name to the Stillwater Humane Society. Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com or on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/pmcfh
