Raymond Douglas Ramsey, 84, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 9am to 8pm with family greeting guests from 6-8pm. Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2:00pm at IOOF Cemetery in Ponca City. Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater is entrusted with arrangements.
Raymond was born on June 1, 1935 in Kildare, Oklahoma to William Josiah and Lois Burnie (Nateware) Ramsey. Raymond grew up in Newkirk, Oklahoma and graduated from Newkirk High School. Raymond was drafted in the United States Army and served from 1955 to 1957 stationed in Japan.
Raymond married Loretta Clinton in October 1958 and they made their home in Ponca City living in their present home since 1968. He worked for Blackwell Smelter after his military service, then Nichlos Machine Shop, Bliss Manufacturing and then OG&E retiring from there in 1993.
Raymond was a member of St. Pauls Methodist Church, member of the Moose Lodge, and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion. Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Anderson, brothers, J.B. and Robert as well as his infant brother Rex and stepdaughter Terrie Westerman.
Raymond is survived by his wife Loretta, son Darryl Ramsey and wife Kim, his grandchildren, Lane Ramsey, Wendy Robertson, Kendall Westerman and four great grandchildren.
